Organization for Event

This image on the left shows the print screen of the live music event Terry Russell wanted me to photograph for him in the factory (a club in Plymouth) The music is described on the event page shown. As you can see from the print screened messages on Facebook, he is describing what he wanted me to do and what kind of image he wanted me to focus on taking. I have highlighted the specific line where he has quoted this in red. I have done a lot of work for this specific client has I have got used to taking the same styled images for his events as he likes all of the image to be shot in fisheye with a strong flash so the audiences and the DJ’s stand out more. As he says he wanted me to capture the ‘Vibes & Motions’ in my photos. I managed to do this, as a lot of the people were very friendly and easy to capture, a lot of people were with their friends wanting pictures. They were all enjoying the music as the DJ’s were making the atmosphere very alive and vibrant.
I always make sure to take some individual images of the DJ’s but try not to get in the way or show that I am their taking photo’s. When I am taking these style photos I like to either stand on the side of the DJ booth so I can images of them with varied angels of the crowd and also the CDJ’s, which they play on. Also standing to the side and slightly behind the DJ’s allows me to take the perfect angle of the DJ impressing the crows and encouraging them to let lose and dance. I experiment every time I do event photography because you never know what you are going to get with the people and the whole atmosphere.
Over all I know the events manager (client) was satisfied with the images I shot him as he asked me to return and do another event for him in Bristol. He has also featured me on the events Facebook page as being the main photography for the event. “Burger Boy” in Bristol is his next event.

These are the print screened messages of me and my client’s conversation about discussing the event before and what he wanted the images to be. And then also after showing how he was satisfied with the images I shot and how I made this happy. In the highlighted box it shows that he said that the event (space) looked very packed event though it was not that busy. I did this by using my 8-10mm fisheye lens and having a very close range with the subject I was taking. This amplified and slightly distorted the images making the people in the images look more magnified.

Editing in Camera RAW / Photoshop
With the editing processes of all of these images it varies on every individual images as I edited them all separately but I use almost the same technique all the images. As shown in my ‘Buggsy’ event page I do a lot of my editing in camera raw as the Photoshop filters and effects do not have the same impact and enhancements.
What I like to focus on most is enhancing the colors in the image with the ‘saturation’ and ‘vibrancy’. I also make sure that most of my images have the clarity setting on at least 30+ as this effect really makes the image stand out and look (stereotypically) like a classic event image. It really makes the audience look alive and more grimy which us normally what my client wants in the images.
