Experimenting With Lighting (gels)

The images above were a test shoot showing how I got the different coloured lighting (shadows) in my images by using the different coloured gels.  I did these by buying a range of different coloured gels for the lights, The come in 1m length and then 30cm high. This means u can double them over so it make the colour more intense yet it I still very difficult to sick onto the lights.

I tried with the pink and using my model (Alice Wilson) just to experiment. I did some normal plain faces modelling poses just so I could get an idea of what I wanted my original model to do, I also really like the pink effect It was my favourite out of the 3 lighting gels I used. I think it gives a very playful fun and fettering effect on my model.

I decided to use the gels as my client wanted this for a modelling portfolio as she approached me asking me to take some images for her to put into her portfolio. She wanted to have some fashion related images so her variety in her portfolio would look more varied. This was a perfect opportunity for my to use my experience with the gels a studio based shoot for this project brief.

For the practice shoot I have done very minimal editing, as these do not have a purpose to anything but practicing for the clients shoot for her fashion portfolio.

As you can see all I have done it enhanced the highlights and contract as well as the vibrancy just to make the pink pop out more in the images. I then opened up my image from camera RAW into Photoshop and burnt in the pink shadows just to make then a little bit more of a darker shadow I feel like this makes the model stand out more in the middle of the frame.
